FedExCup Update: Xander Schauffele earns Open Championship victory, remains at No. 2

TOUR Championship returns to East Lake Golf Club, August 28 – September 1

ATLANTA – San Diego native Xander Schauffele picked up his second major championship title and second victory of the 2024 season at The Open Championship. The win kept him at No. 2 in the FedExCup and helped close the gap to leader Scottie Scheffler with three weeks remaining in the PGA TOUR Regular Season.

A consistent performer on the PGA TOUR since 2017, the 30-year-old entered The Open Championship with eight career TOUR victories, with his most recent coming just two months ago at the PGA Championship. Riding a streak of six top-15 finishes in his last six starts, including his first major championship win, Schauffele shot a final-round 65 to finish at 9-under par, and defeat Justin Rose and Billy Horschel by two strokes at Royal Troon.

Schauffele has qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs in every season since 2017 and will make his eighth consecutive appearance at the TOUR Championship. He has finished no worse than T7 at East Lake Golf Club (2023/2; 2022/4; 2021/T5; 2020/T2; 2019/2; 2018/T7; 2017/Won).

With his T7 finish at The Open, Scheffler retains his lead in the FedExCup thanks to six wins this season. Three weeks remain until the TOUR’s top 70 players qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs and make the final push for the 2024 TOUR Championship.
